La Cala Asia is not overly long at 5,925 metres but requires accuracy from all the tees. Drives that find the fairways will give the opportunity on most of the holes to attack the pins with the approach shots for potential birdies. Both the fairways and greens are well bunkered, and the majority of the tee shots, many of which are quite dramatic to comfortably wide landing areas, are either downhill or level.
The four par fives, with the exception of the 1st, are reachable in two. Beware of the apparently concealed contours of the greens. The signature hole is the par-3 2nd, offering panoramic 360 degree views of the resort to Mijas village and the Mediterranean. This is an exciting course which puts a premium on accuracy and distance control.
